Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque could not help but laugh after he realized that he did not get the joke when he responded to a query if vehicle owners can have their “change oil” in areas inside the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) bubble.
In his online Palace briefing Monday, Roque let out a chuckle after realizing he did not get the joke at first. On Sunday evening, he answered the question from radio reporter Henry Uri if changing oil is still possible in Batangas province if the owner of the vehicle is living in National Capital Region (NCR).
“Henry, sinagot kita, knowing… akalain… na yung joke mo pala akala ko totoo pagdating doon sa change oil na ‘yan,” Roque said.
“So uuiltin ko, kapag Batangas hindi na po pwede mag-change-oil,” Roque added.
Moreover, the Palace official said the mechanics should ensure that their customers are really going out for oil change.
“Sa mga nagbabantay, siguraduhin na talagang nagche-change oil,” Roque said.
Roque’s statement came after he announced the imposition of National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal under GCQ bubble effective from March 22, 2021 until April 4, 2021 in a bid to contain the spike of coronavirus infections.
The term change-oil took on a different meaning over the weekend due to a viral Facebook post about a girl being betrayed by her fiance and another girl that both of them know.
The said vehicle maintenance measure became a running joke after the man in the viral Facebook post reasoned out that he and the other girl were together because she accompanied him when he went for an oil change.
