According to former senator Panfilo Lacson, Guo contacted an acquaintance of China’s first family through a Filipino-Chinese trader within their circle, who requested support during the peak of investigation against her.
The first family of the Republic of China is an informal reference to the immediate family of the president of the Republic of China.
National security concerns were raised regarding the former mayor’s rise to power in Bamban, even if her request was not granted.
“Hindi malayo na kung napeke niya ang pagiging mayor, ay umangat na siya sa pagiging isang congresswoman – at kung siya ay foreign spy, delikado ang ating national security.” Lacson stated.
The former senator added the threat a Chinese spy would be, highlighting the conflict in the West Philippine Sea.
“As a member of Congress, she would have access to highly classified documents due to her high security clearance,” He added.
Lacson urged the Philippine intelligence community to further investigate Guo as a potential to be a national security risk – with allegations of hee connections to a syndicate behind an illegal offshore casino.
