Philippines soars six spots higher in the 2024 Network Readiness Index

The Philippines exhibited a significant growth after placing 63rd among the 133 countries worldwide with an average of 49.93 on the 2024 Network Readiness Index, breaking last year’s 69th placement record.

According to the recently released report by the Portulans Institute, the global ranking of NRI 2024 was assessed through four main pillars which are specifically the People, Technology, Governance, and Impact.
The report presented in detail that the Philippines showed strength in the pillar of People, ranking 33rd globally with an average of 50.40. In contrast to the Philippines' rank of 2023 NRI on this pillar, the country showed improvement, emerging from 59th place.
Furthermore, The Philippines also manifested good progress on the Governance pillar as it ranked 74th among the global countries with 54.23 points, overthrowing its prior rank of being on 85th spot.
On the other hand, the country still requires substantial improvement on the scope of Technology pillar as it settled on 79th with a calculated points of 39.46 despite exceeding last year’s rank of 84th.
Similarly, falling to 58th spot from its former 48th rank, the Philippines is also expected to build adjustments on the Impact pillar as the average dropped from 57.41 to 55.63 of calculated points.
Meanwhile, the report also stated that the Philippines placed 3rd in the group of lower-middle-income countries and 13th among the Asia and Pacific countries.
The evaluation and report of NRI annually analyzes the progress of worldwide countries in applying information and communication technologies (ICT) to a country’s state of economy.
