Davao City showed a hike in the recent edition of the TomTom Traffic Index, exhibiting a rank of 8th spot as one of the cities that had the longest traveling time, topping Manila’s first rank worldwide in 2023.

The report showed significant changes as last year’s first rank of worst traffic globally with an average of 25 minutes and 30 seconds, Manila, drops into 14th by city center, with an average of 32 minutes and 10 seconds per 10 kilometers.

On the other hand, Davao City ranked two spots lower globally in the metropolitan area, placing 10th for having one of the longest time spent in traveling with an average of 28 minutes and 17 seconds. 

According to the report presented, Davao City was one of the cities that had the slowest travel times, showing a total estimation of 32 minutes and 59 seconds per 10 kilometers traveled on average by city center.

Dropping only one rank lower by metropolitan area with an average of 27 minutes and 18 seconds in every 10 kilometers traveled, Manila ranked 15th in the 2024 index.

The annual report of 2024 Traffic Index was released, revealing an analysis of the city traffic and congestion level worldwide among 500 cities across 62 countries.

In comparison to last year’s analysis, Manila ranked further lower, but statistics show that traffic only gets worse, considering the soar in computer average per 10 kilometers.

Consequently, it was also pointed out by TomTom Traffic Index that the congestion levels and travel times were higher while the average speed was slower in 2024.

Davao City had the lowest performance among the cities in Southeast Asian countries in the 2024 index.
