The National Capital Region Police Officer (NCRPO) Acting Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin reported a 10.62 percent decrease in Metro Manila’s crime rate this December 2024.

According to Aberin, the cases dropped from 10,323 crimes in November 2024 to 9,227 in December 2024.

NCRPO cited an 11.94 percent decrease in eight focus crimes, from 469 incidents in November to 413 in December.

Focus crimes includes murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, vehicle theft and motorcycle theft.

Although crime clearance efficiency decreased from 99.56 percent in November to 98.86 percent in December, the NCRPO's high efficiency in handling crimes maintained. Meanwhile, crime solution efficiency stayed steady, declining slightly from 96.36 percent in November to 96.03 percent in December.

“These improvements showcase NCRPO's effective implementation of crime prevention strategies and proactive measures to address public safety concerns,” Aberin said.

The NCRPO reported a 50 percent decrease in motorcycle theft, a 30.77 percent decrease in homicide, and a 10.71 percent decrease in murder cases.

Along with a decline in crime, NCRPO stepped up its efforts to apprehend wanted people, arresting 1,248 people—including 613 other wanted people and 548 most wanted people.

NCRPO also intensified its anti-illegal drug operations, confiscating 9.12 kg. of shabu and 5.86 kg. of marijuana worth a total of Php 63.84 million in 761 operations, arresting 1,120 individuals in its campaign.

Regional law enforcement also led 900 operations against illegal gambling, arresting 2,272 people, and seizing P554,874.50 in marijuana money.

The NCRPO also emphasized how it enforces local laws, citing 6,232,135 people for infractions and collecting P3,256,096,143 in fines.

Additionally, in December, police conducted 198 operations, seizing 212 firearms and arresting 202 people for firearms violations, particularly in advance of the local and national elections in 2025.

Aberin emphasized that every arrest and every case that is settled is a step in the direction of increasing cooperation and trust between the police and the community they serve.

“Let us continue this momentum in 2025 and together with the community, let us make Metro Manila a safe and secure place for all,” NCRPO Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said in a statement.
