A Facebook post claims that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will proceed on November 28, 2026. However, official records show that the elections have been postponed to November 2028.

CLAIM:

The Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are not postponed and will still start on November 28, 2026.

RATING: FALSE

CONCLUSION:

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12326 on September 24, 2026, postponing the next BSKE to the second Monday of November 2028.

FACTS:

  • On September 25, 2026, Pres. Marcos signed Republic Act No. 12326, extending the terms of elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials from three to five years and moving the next BSKE from November 2, 2026, to the second Monday of November 2028.
  • COMELEC Chairperson George Garcia confirmed the commission would comply with any Supreme Court ruling concerning the postponement.
  • On November 28, 2026, a special election will be held in Batanes to elect a new representative to fill the congressional seat left by the death of Rep. Ciriaco Gato Jr. The special election is separate from the BSKE.

THE BOTTOMLINE:

The claim is false. Under Republic Act No. 12326, the next BSKE is scheduled for November 13, 2028, not November 28, 2026. Any subsequent court ruling or official announcement should be checked for updates to the schedule.
