DOUBLE BRONZE: Karl Eldrew Yulo wraps Junior Worlds with twin bronze medals

Knowing that it was his final showing at the Junior World Championships, Karl Eldrew Yulo made sure to make his last stand count.

The rising Filipino gymnast wrote the perfect end to his final 2025 Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships campaign after finishing with two bronze medals out of four medal bids in Pasay City.

Yulo’s double-bronze finish came in the floor exercise and horizontal bar finals, following a strong opening stretch that included an eighth-place all-around berth out of 24 gymnasts and a podium-close fourth-place showing in the vault finals.

The younger Yulo opened his run on a high note, breaking into the top 10 of the all-around competition with 78.731 points to place eighth. 

Russian gymnast Arsenii Dukhno topped the field with 82.031 points, followed by Nao Ojima (81.799) for silver and Lanbin Yang (81.099) for bronze.

Despite nursing an ankle injury from his opening event, Yulo delivered a gritty performance on the floor exercise, scoring 13.733 to capture his first bronze.

China’s Langbin Yang took gold with 13.833, while Italy’s Simone Speranza settled for silver with 13.766.

Yulo nearly reached the podium again in vault after posting 13.716 to finish fourth behind Dukhno, who snagged his second gold of the tournament with 14.333.

Sol Scott (14.066) and Evan McPhillips (13.950) claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

The Adamson standout secured his second medal in the horizontal bar finals with a 14.000 performance, a routine that included a stick-landing bonus. 

Vera Camilo won gold with 14.533, while Danila Leykin earned silver with 14.233.

With his breakthrough showing, the teen gymnast now turns his focus to bigger stages as he begins charting his path toward the national team and future World and Asian championships.
