DepEd-6 to host NFOT this April 2026

The Department of Education Region 6 (DepEd-6) has announced its lineup of major academic and sports activities for 2026, with Western Visayas possibly hosting the National Festival of Talents, according to Regional Information Officer of Region VI Hernani Escullar Jr.

DepEd-6 said the academic year formally began on Jan. 5, allowing schools ample preparation time for upcoming regional activities.

The Department of Education Region 6 (DepEd-6) has announced its lineup of major academic and sports activities for 2026 to guide schools in Western Visayas in planning the school year.

The host, the Schools Division of Roxas City, Roxas City, Capiz, has already begun preparation.

The event is announced to be on April 20-24, 2026.

This year’s DepEd calendar aims to balance athletic development with academic excellence, encouraging student participation across diverse competitions.

Another highlight is the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet, which is scheduled to take place in March 2026.

Aside from sports competitions, DepEd-6 will also hold various academic contests and enrichment activities throughout the year, such as the Regional Schools Press Conference and Regional Festival of Talents.

These events are intended to recognize learners’ achievements in academics, arts, and other scholastic fields.

Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Cristito Eco, through Escullar, said that this year will prioritize improving learners’ literacy and numeracy skills.

DepEd-6 said further announcements will be made as schedules are confirmed and official notices issued to schools across Western Visayas.
