Quiboloy in hospital for almost three weeks due to pneumonia

Detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy was rushed again to the hospital due to pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said on September 30.

The BJMP confirmed that Quiboloy was taken out of the Pasig City Jail and confined in a public hospital since September 11.

Quiboloy was reportedly diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia, classified as moderate risk.

The bureau added that the Regional Trial Court 159 in Pasig City, which is in charge of Quiboloy’s case, was immediately notified of his health condition. 

Later, the Pasig court on September 15 issued an order authorizing his hospitalization.

“As of 30 September 2025, he is stable and recovering in a public hospital, in line with BJMP policies on medical care for PDL (persons deprived of liberty),” BJMP said in a text message.

Quiboloy was also brought to the hospital last January 18 after complaining about difficulty in breathing and was also diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia with moderate risk.

BJMP confirmed his hospitalization on January 21 at Rizal Medical Center (RMC) by the BJMP-Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory.

The Pasig court ordered on January 23 his transfer to a government hospital from a private hospital. He was returned to detainment in Pasig City Jail on February 12.

On November 8, 2024, Quiboloy was confined at the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) for a thorough examination due to chest discomfort and irregular heartbeat.

Quiboloy, who was also the spiritual adviser of former President Rodrigo Duterte, is currently facing non-bailable qualified human trafficking charges before the Pasig court.

He is also charged by the United States with sex trafficking of children, fraud and coercion, and bulk cash smuggling.
