MISLEADING: Court revokes arrest warrant against VP Duterte, declares her free

A post by Pulong Duterte Movement for Senator, a Facebook page, alleged that Vice President  Sara Duterte is now free because the Court took back the warrant of arrest issued against the vice president. 

CLAIM:

The post claimed that the Court cancelled Duterte’s arrest warrant. Furthermore, it insinuated that she is already free. 

RATING: MISLEADING

CONCLUSION:

No court revoked VPSD’s arrest warrant, nor is she totally free. The vice president instead posted bail, which is different from complete freedom. 

THE FACTS: 

• A warrant of arrest was issued against Duterte by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98. 
• VPSD posted a P360,000 bail on Saturday, September 5, 2026. 
• Bail is merely the temporary release of a person in custody. Not complete freedom. Legal obligations remain, such as appearing before the court when required. 

THE BOTTOMLINE 

The court did not revoke the warrant of arrest. VP Duterte instead posted bail but is not totally free.
