Bam Adebayo erupts for 83, passes Kobe Bryant’s 81 for 2nd on NBA single-game scoring list

With the crowd rising and the history books within reach, Bam Adebayo delivered a night that will echo across the NBA for years.

The Miami Heat star exploded for 83 points, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s iconic 81-point game to record the second-highest scoring performance in league history as the Heat rolled past the Washington Wizards,150–129, March 11 (Philippine time).

Only Wilt Chamberlain’s legendary 100-point game in 1962 now stands above Adebayo’s historic outburst.

Adebayo set the tone immediately, pouring in 31 points in the opening quarter as Miami grabbed early control and the Wizards struggled to slow the All-Star center.

He finished the night shooting 20-of-43 from the field, including 7-of-22 from 3-point range, while living at the free-throw line where he converted 36 of 43 attempts.

The free-throw totals set NBA single-game records for both makes and attempts, adding another layer to a performance that shattered his previous career high of 41 points.

Adebayo tallied 43 points in the first half as Miami built a 76–62 lead at the break, then continued his scoring barrage with 19 points in the third quarter before sealing history late in the fourth.

His final two points came from the foul line with 1:16 remaining, pushing him past Bryant’s long-standing mark and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Adebayo’s scoring came in waves, finishing with 31 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, 19 in the third and 21 in the fourth to complete an unforgettable night.

Despite the scoring explosion, Adebayo still found time to contribute elsewhere, grabbing nine rebounds in 42 minutes of action.

The Heat, who were missing several key players due to injuries, leaned heavily on Adebayo’s offensive brilliance as they secured their sixth straight win and improved to 22–11 at home.

For one night at least, the NBA spotlight belonged entirely to Adebayo, the man who climbed past Bryant and etched his name beside Chamberlain in basketball history.
