In light of the upcoming parliamentary elections of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Sultan Hamidullah Altar of Marawi City prompted citizens to use their voting rights responsibly, September 13.

The Sultan urged voters to look at qualifications rather than their party lists or allies, citing the elections as one of the biggest challenges of the Bangsamoro towards self-government.

“Hindi lang dahil sa bangsa, hindi lang dahil sa partido, sana mangingibabaw ang tunay na kwalipikasyon ng isang lider,” he aired during his message.

Beyond this, he prayed for an electoral process free from fear and malicious acts such as vote buying.

He also noted that the results of this election were not only for the current generation, but also for the years to come.

The parliamentary elections are set to be held on Monday, September 14, across different voting areas stationed in the various provinces of the region.
