
Colin “The Flash” Gordon kickstarted Team Philippines’ campaign on a golden note after claiming the country’s first gold medal during the men’s 65-69 800-meter run at the 23rd Asia Masters Athletics Championships held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, India.
Gordon, representing the National Masters and Seniors Athletics Association of the Philippines cruised through the event to secure the top spot, setting an early winning tone for the Filipino contingent in the tournament’s opening stretch.
Now in its 23rd edition, the Asia Masters Athletics Championships gathered international veteran athletes to champion longevity and camaraderie across sporting events.
Competitions include the 5,000-meter race walk, discus throw, shot put, javelin throw, hammer throw, pole vault, and other athletic events.
A native of Sibulan, Negros Oriental, Gordon will next aim to replicate his gold-medal performance as he competes in the 200-meter and 400-meter races.
