FEU-D mauls Ateneo, secure twice-to-beat edge in UAAP HS Final Four

Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU-D) Baby Tamaraws snagged a twice-to-beat advantage after drubbing the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles, 111–73, in the UAAP Season 88 High School Boys’ Basketball Final Four at the Blue Eagle Gym, March 11.

The Baby Tamaraws, who finished as the No. 2 seed to claim the coveted twice-to-beat incentive, leaned on a dominant all-around performance from Cabs Cabonillas to power their victory.

Cabonillas posted a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds, along with five assists, four steals, and three blocks.

Dwayne Enriquez added 19 points, while JB Cagurungan chipped in 13 markers to help FEU-D pull away early and maintain control of the contest.

The Tamaraws seized command behind their relentless offense and airtight defense erecting the cushion to nearly 40 points against the Blue Eagles.

Despite the lopsided defeat, Jude Eriobu delivered a standout performance for Ateneo with a game-high 35 points and 16 rebounds in the losing effort.

The victory was particularly significant for the No. 2 seed Baby Tamaraws, who had previously dropped both elimination-round meetings against Ateneo, including an 86–82 overtime loss last Sunday and a 90–71 defeat on Jan. 14.

With the win, FEU-D will face Ateneo once again in the Final Four, armed with the twice-to-beat advantage.

Meanwhile, National University Nazareth School will take on De La Salle Zobel in the other semifinal pairing.
