Carlos claims fifth straight floor title; Eldrew bags bronze in Asian Championships

Olympic champion Carlos Yulo continued his dominance on the continental stage, while younger brother Eldrew Yulo captured his first senior Asian Championships medal as the Filipino siblings secured gold and bronze, respectively, in the men’s floor exercise final of the 2026 Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Zunyi, China, June 20.

Carlos posted a winning score of 14.700 to claim his fifth consecutive floor exercise title at the Asian Championships and his 11th career gold medal in the continental meet.

Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama took silver with 14.600, while Eldrew scored 14.300 to earn bronze and complete a double podium finish for the Philippines.

The victory further cemented Carlos’ reign in the event, with the two-time Olympic champion extending his unbeaten run on the Asian Championships floor exercise stage.

Both Yulo brothers advanced to the final after impressive qualification performances, with Carlos topping the field at 14.433 and Eldrew securing the eighth and final berth with a score of 13.600.

Eldrew, who moved up to the senior ranks this year, improved significantly on his qualification mark to reach the podium in his first Asian Championships appearance at the senior level.

The Philippines remains in contention for more medals, with both Carlos and Eldrew advancing to the horizontal bar final, while Carlos also qualified for the parallel bars final.
