Dominant Creamline sweeps Cignal in Game 1, nears PVL AFC title

Creamline Cool Smashers dazzled the court as they swept the Cignal Super Spikers, 25–22, 25–18, 25–16, to take the first win in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Finals series at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, April 21.

With one win away from bagging its 11th overall title in the PVL, the Cool Smashers wasted no time early in the game, continuously hitting the opposite court heavily as the Super Spikers gradually weakened set after set.

Jema Galanza asserted dominance for Creamline, helping the team recover from a turnaround scare by Cignal at 24–22.

Creamline continued their smooth sailing to the second set, with Bernadeth Pons aiding Galanza to carry their lead and momentum into the final marking.

Pons and Galanza fired up once again and began the third set at 5–0, before stretching into an 18–10 scoreboard.

The rest of the Cool Smashers took control of the remainder of the set and completed the straight-sweep.

Galanza led the team scoring with 17 points coming from 16 attacks and 1 block.

Pons also added 11 markers for Creamline while Tots Carlos added nine of her own.

Meanwhile, Vanie Gandler matched Galanza with 17 points for the Super Spikers, while Erika Santos contributed 10 points.

Both teams will clash once again at the same venue on April 23 to determine whether to crown Creamline as champions or if Game 3 is necessary.
