Chery Tiggo Crossovers and Creamline Cool Smashers clinched the last two semifinal berths in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour 2025, dispatching Nxled Chameleons and Farm Fresh Foxies, respectively, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, August 9.
Earlier that day, Chery Tiggo set the tone early, sweeping Nxled Chameleons with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, and dashed their hopes for a first-ever semifinals appearance in franchise history.
Karen Verdeflor earned the Player of the Game honors after anchoring the Crossovers’ floor defense with 16 excellent digs and six receptions, while Cess Robles added 12 points on offense.
“Nxled, hindi sila madaling talunin. Kaya ‘yun pinaghandaan lang namin, sinunod lang namin kung yung sinasabi ng mga coaches. Yun lumabas na sa game.” said the 24-year-old libero, sharing how they prepared under coach Norman Miguel’s system.
Despite a late push from Nxled in the third set, Chery Tiggo leaned on its attacking arsenal, with Jyne Soreno’s hit from a combination play sealing the 25-20 finish.
Meanwhile, EJ Cariño stepped up in the losing effort for Nxled after tallying 13 points.
The Crossovers will face the Cignal HD Spikers to start their knockout semifinals campaign on Tuesday, August 12 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Later, the Creamline Cool Smashers displayed their signature composure in a 25-19, 25-19, 26-24 sweep of the Farm Fresh Foxies to complete the semis lineup.
Kyle Negrito took Player of the Game honors after orchestrating Creamline’s attack with 21 excellent sets and chipping in six points, while Michele Gumabao led all Cool Smashers scorers with 15 points.
Riding their momentum from the first frame into the third, Creamline staved off a late Farm Fresh rally. Trisha Tubu forced a deuce after a service error by her side, but Pangs Panaga ended the match with a clutch service ace, 26-24.
Tubu paced the Foxies with 20 points.
Creamline will battle the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the other semifinals showdown on August 12, also at the Araneta Coliseum.
