Manila Water’s Salin Program trains 372 educators since 2023

After its launch in 2023, Manila Water’s Salin Program has now reached 372 educators from 100+ schools of the East Zone of Metro Manila, the company announced on Friday via press release.

The Salin Program is a collaborative effort of Manila Water and the Department of Education – National Capital Region (DepEd – NCR), aiming to equip teachers with the skill and knowledge in water and sanitation advocacies.

“Our educators are vital allies in helping the next generation understand the importance of protecting our water sources including watersheds and practicing proper sanitation,” Manila Water’s Communication Affairs Group Director Jeric Sevilla said via Inquirer.

Moroever, Sevilla stressed the importance of integrating water and sanitation advocacies in the academe, citing Salin’s role in making it possible.

“Through Salin, we’re able to support them in bringing these lessons into their classrooms and communities,” Sevilla said.

In its third year of service, the program has engaged 149 teachers from 45 schools through nine batches from January to August.

Through the records, the program has listed 57 teachers from 14 school through 4 batches in its pilot year in 2023.

The following year recorded 166 participants from 57 schools through 14 batches.

More sessions are scheduled for the next months, according to Manila Water.
