Extinguished.
Alas Pilipinas Women mounted a spirited third-set rally but failed to sustain its momentum, falling to Venezuela, 22–25, 15–25, 25–20, 22–25 loss in the 2026 FIVB Girls’ U17 World Championships on Aug. 15 in San Felipe, Chile.
Alas failed to exact revenge against Venezuela, as the latter had already defeated the Philippines in a grueling five-set clash during the preliminaries.
With their backs turned against the wall, the Filipinas regrouped in the third frame after suffering a 0–2 set advantage and sparked a third-set victory to extend the match.
However, the Venezuelans were able to snuff out Alas’ fire when it mattered the most.
Venezuela seized control during the fourth set via their superior firepower to slam the door on Alas, 25–22, to seal the deal.
Xyz Rayco sparked the Nationals’ offensive assault with 15 points from 11 attacks, three aces, and a block.
Alas’ Celis also breached a double-digit output with 14 markers off 13 attacks and a block.
Alas Girls’ next assignment is the battle-for-15th match, where they will face off against world No. 22 Czechia on Sunday, Aug. 16.
