FALSE: Duterte’s 57 ICC cases marked as dismissed

Reeve DiazFact check20 minutes ago

A recent Facebook post gaining a huge amount of online engagement stated that the former Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD)’s 57 charges of crimes against humanity under the war on drugs have been dismissed, primarily due to current President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s lies.

CLAIM:

The post claimed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) already dismissed FPRRD’s drug war charges, most especially because of alleged deceptive statements from Marcos Jr.

RATING: FALSE

CONCLUSION:

There remains no evidence or memo coming from the ICC that all of Duterte’s charges have been dismissed. Further trial proceedings are scheduled and are set to proceed.

THE FACTS:

  • Just recently, the ICC has removed 1 killing incident from the trial brief. This was linked to a “high-value target” in the list dubbed the “PRRD list” during his presidential term, which may have become a ground for the claim.
  • However, there remains no modification to the list of witnesses.
  • The Duterte case trial is still set to open on November 30, 2026 without further modification, following multiple discussions in the previous appearances of Duterte.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

The post entirely fabricated a legal outcome to favor a political narrative.
