MISLEADING: ‘I am not a Marcos Loyalist…this is simply a recognition ceremony’ – Eala

A facebook post claims that Tennis player Alex Eala imposes  that she is ‘not a Marcos Loyalist’ in an alleged ‘interview’ after the recognition ceremony at Palace. 

CLAIM

The post presents a quote derived from an alleged interview after the ceremony stating that she is not attending the courtesy call of the President to take part in any political engagement, and that she is ‘not a Marcos loyalist.’

The alleged quote states:

“I want to make one thing clear. I am not a Marcos Loyalist, nor am I here to take part in any political engagement. This is simply a recognition ceremony, a homecoming reception, and a courtesy call, nothing more.”

RATING: MISLEADING

CONCLUSION

There is no official statement released publicly by Alex Eala regarding her political stance after she has received the Presidential Citation of her historic 16 rounds finished at Wimbledon. While it is true that Eala simply attended the recognition ceremony at the Palace, her acceptance speech is entirely different from what the claim has presented, which appears to be fabricated to mislead the public.

The facebook post is misleading as it presents a fabricated political statement from Alex Eala during her Malacañang homecoming reception, creating malice on her participation in an athletic courtesy ceremony by falsely dragging her into political arguments, which may mislead the public.
