Sta. Mesa, Manila June 17, 2026- The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and gender-responsive academic community through the successful staging of the Gender Equality Creativity Festival (GECF): Kasari-Sarian 2026 and Intersextions 2026, held at the PUP Gymnasium.
Organized as part of the University’s continuing advocacy for gender equality and social inclusion, the event brought together students, faculty members, administrative personnel, and community stakeholders in a vibrant celebration of creativity as a tool for promoting understanding, respect, and appreciation of diversity.
This year’s GECF showcased interactive booths conceptualized and managed by students from the College of Communication (COC) and the College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD). Through games, exhibits, art installations, performances, and educational activities, participants explored various dimensions of gender equality, inclusion, human rights, and social responsibility in engaging and accessible ways.
The festival highlighted how creative expression can serve as a powerful medium for challenging stereotypes, addressing discrimination, and encouraging meaningful conversations about gender and social justice. Students transformed complex concepts into interactive learning experiences, demonstrating the role of youth leadership in advancing a more equitable society.
Complementing the festival was Intersextions 2026, a platform dedicated to examining the interconnected realities that shape people’s lived experiences. Through discussions, exhibits, and collaborative activities, participants reflected on how factors such as gender, age, disability, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and other social identities intersect to influence opportunities, access, and participation in society.
The event reinforced the importance of adopting an intersectional perspective in addressing social issues and promoting inclusive development. Participants were encouraged to recognize diversity not as a challenge to overcome but as a strength that enriches communities and institutions.
University officials commended the students and organizers for their creativity, dedication, and commitment to promoting gender equality through innovative approaches. The festival also served as a testament to PUP’s continuing efforts to integrate gender and development principles into student engagement, community building, and institutional culture.
As the activities concluded, attendees left with renewed insights and a deeper appreciation of the collective responsibility to create spaces where everyone can participate, thrive, and be respected regardless of their identity or background.
Through initiatives such as Kasari-Sarian and Intersextions, PUP continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for social transformation, empowering future leaders to champion equality, inclusion, and human dignity both within and beyond the University.
