Students, teachers, and school personnel affected by the recent shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City are receiving psychological first aid to help the school community recover from the tragedy.

Department of Education (DepEd) officials said that mental health interventions are being provided to help those affected process the traumatic incident before classes gradually resume.

Despite preparations for the resumption of classes, fear continues to linger among students and parents. Some learners admitted they remain anxious about returning to school, while several parents said they are still worried about their children’s safety following the shooting.

DepEd said that psychosocial interventions will continue alongside modular learning as part of efforts to support the school.

Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
