4 Explained PH staffers named MOCJs at NSPC 2026

Four campus journalists from Explained PH were recognized as Most Outstanding Campus Journalists (MOCJs) of the Philippines at the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026, marking the organization’s strongest showing to date.

The awarding ceremony was held on April 16 at Western Leyte College of Ormoc, Inc. during the annual press tilt, which gathers top student-journalists nationwide to compete across various categories.

This recognition marks Explained PH’s biggest haul yet, with winners spanning multiple regions and desks.

Aldrey De Vera of the DigiCast division was named MOCJ for Region I, while Joseph Azil Buena of the News Desk earned the distinction for Region V.

Meanwhile, Copyeditor Nyvelle Leanna Brillantes secured the title for Region XII, highlighting the organization’s presence in Mindanao.

Feature writer Daniel Enrico Chua also clinched the MOCJ title for Negros Island Region (NIR), marking the region’s first since its separation from Region VII.

From the past four editions of the NSPC, Explained PH has shown a steady rise in top individual awardees from two MOCJs in 2023, another two in 2024, one in 2025, and surging to four in 2026.

The MOCJ is an award given to campus journalists of the country who have demonstrated commendable performance in campus journalism.
