CALABARZON reclaims NSPC crown after two-year setback

CALABARZON reclaimed the overall championship at the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026, held in Ormoc City, Leyte from April 13-17, after falling short in its title bids in 2024 and 2025.

The comeback marks the region’s return to the top after reconfiguring its Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC), overcoming consecutive setbacks to finally secure the crown once more.

Their nine-year streak was broken in 2024 by Davao Region and failed their second chance to reclaim it in 2025 as CARAGA clinched the crown.

NCR secured the second overall spot, followed by Region II, Region V, and Region III, completing the top five rankings.

In the elementary division, NCR led the rankings, with Region IV-A, Region XI, Region III, and Region V trailing behind.

For the secondary division, Region II emerged on top, followed by CARAGA, Region V, Region IV-A, and Region III.

Group events

NCR emerges as the leading performer in the elementary group competitions, with Region XI, and Region V following closely behind.

In the secondary division, Region II secured the top rank, trailing NCR, and CARAGA.

Across the specific categories, Region IX dominated the English Elementary Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting, while NCR led the Filipino category. Region IX stood out in the English Secondary category, whilst Region VIII topped the Filipino category.

Region II captured the championship in the Secondary English TV Script Writing and Broadcasting and its Filipino counterpart was won by NCR.

In the elementary level, Region VI topped the English Collaborative Desktop Publishing, while Region II led in Filipino. In the secondary division, Region II won in English, and Region XI dominated the Filipino category.

Meanwhile, Region V and Region II secured the overall wins for Secondary English and Filipino Online Desktop Publishing, respectively.

Individual events

Region III emerged as the top performer in the elementary individual categories, trailed by CALABARZON, and CARAGA.

In the secondary division, CALABARZON led the competition, followed by CARAGA and Region 2.

At the elementary level, Johavier Ampaso from Region X topped News Writing, while Shaziya-Irfana Madjid of Region IX dominated in Pagsulat ng Balita. At the secondary division, Wedz Junmark Malazarte from Region XI secured the English category, with Maria Dorina Placiente of Region IV-A ruled the Filipino counterpart.

Elementary winners include Ezrah Margarethe Obina from Region X for Feature Writing and Ayesha Mae Dela Cruz of Region IV-B for Pagsulat ng Lathalain. For secondary, Louise Bhorz Alave of Region VI claimed the English title, while Joshua Pasion from Region II dominated the Filipino category.

In the elementary category, John Nathaniel Avila from Region VI topped Editorial Writing and Kate Ariellah Lusterios of Region IV-A for Pagsulat ng Editoryal. For secondary, Gil Reysean Aguilar from Region V emerged victorious in the English category, while Jhovance Alexcis Dajao from Region X dominated the Filipino category.

At the elementary level, Samantha Nicole Baruga of Region XII ranked first in Column Writing, with Yanie Faiza Labuguen from Region III winning in Pagsulat ng Kolum. Secondary champions were Calvin Red Visico from Region I for English and Jairus Jess Ventoso from Region III for Filipino.

Elementary winners include Vince Hinrick Francisco of NCR for Science and Technology Writing and Rhaya Gale Manggol of Region IV-B for Pagsulat ng Artikulong Agham at Teknolohiya. In the secondary level, Yohan Marco Caliao of Region XI topped the English category, while Joemiguel Zydrick Magtagnob of Region V led in Filipino.

At the elementary level, Khyle Timothy Koh from Region III led Sports Writing in English, while Francis Apollo Molina of Region V topped in Pagsulat ng Balitang Pampalakasan. For secondary, Luis Keith Fernandez from Region IV-A claimed the English title, and Lawrence Tana of Region IV-A prevailed in Filipino.

In the elementary division, the win went to Nathan Manuel Villegas of Region IV-A for Copyediting and Headline Writing, and Joshua Arienza from Region XIII for Pagwawasto ng Sipi at Pag-uulo ng Balita. In high school, Ma. Kristina Abegail Arellano from Region X and Wardy June Baloyos of Region X topped the English and Filipino category respectively.

Elementary winners include Johan Pango of Region III in Photojournalism, with Maria Andrea Barrameda from Region IV-A for Pagkuha ng Larawang Pampahayagan. The titles in the secondary level went to Jian Franco Rubio from Region V for English and Kzanarah Yael Cariaga of Region II for Filipino.

At the elementary level, Ayessa Jillian Famillaran of Region III won in Editorial Cartooning and Hayley Nicole Juarez from Region III led in Pagguhit ng Kartung Pang-Editoryal. For secondary, Querrol Rey Loto from Region IV-B triumphed in English, while Keh Ramirez of Region X claimed the Filipino crown.

For Mobile Journalism, Sittie Ayn Maimuna Andang from BARMM claimed victory in the English category, whereas Sharmaine Agustin from Region I led the FIlipino division.
