PASAY CITY, Philippines — In celebration of Coffee Chapters’ 3rd Anniversary, theater company Act Avenue proudly presents PATLANG, an intimate café theater experience that brings together original Filipino one-act plays, live music, dance, poetry, and drag performances in one unforgettable evening of storytelling.
Presented in partnership with Coffee Chapters, PATLANG transforms the café into a living performance space where stories unfold over coffee and meaningful conversations come to life. Scheduled on August 22 and August 29, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Coffee Chapters, P. Burgos, Libertad, Pasay City, the production offers audiences a refreshing alternative to the traditional theater experience.
More than a theatrical event, PATLANG explores the beauty of the patlang—the pause between words, the silence between conversations, and the quiet moments where reflection, healing, and understanding begin. In a world that rarely slows down, the production encourages audiences to pause, listen, and reconnect through stories shared in an intimate café setting.
Directed by Alex Baylon, PATLANG features three original Filipino one-act plays that examine love, identity, grief, friendship, and the complexities of human relationships.

With only 50 seats available per performance, PATLANG offers audiences an up-close and deeply personal theatrical experience rarely found in traditional venues. Each ₱600 ticket includes admission to the complete program and one complimentary handcrafted coffee beverage, allowing guests to enjoy exceptional performances in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Coffee Chapters.
As one of the featured events of Coffee Chapters’ 3rd Anniversary Celebration, PATLANG reflects the shared vision of Coffee Chapters and Act Avenue: creating spaces where art, community, and meaningful conversations thrive. By bringing original Filipino theater into a café setting, the collaboration makes live performance more accessible while championing local artists and original Filipino works.
PATLANG marks Act Avenue’s pilot initiative for alternative-space programming, demonstrating how cafés and community venues can become powerful platforms for storytelling and artistic exchange.
At the heart of PATLANG is the desire to create a space where artists from different forms of art can gather, collaborate, and share their work alongside one another. By bringing together theater, music, dance, poetry, and drag, PATLANG creates a multidisciplinary space where different artistic voices can meet and contribute to one shared experience.
At the same time, Act Avenue intentionally chose a coffee shop as the venue to bring the arts closer to the community. Rather than asking audiences to enter a traditional theater space, PATLANG brings live performance into a familiar, accessible environment where people can gather, have coffee, and experience art in a more relaxed and intimate setting. Through this approach, the production hopes to make theater and other art forms more accessible while encouraging more people to engage with local artists and original Filipino works.
The production provides opportunities for emerging playwrights, actors, musicians, poets, dancers, and multidisciplinary artists to collaborate while introducing theater to audiences in an intimate and welcoming environment.
Leading the production behind the scenes is a passionate creative team headed by Director Alex Baylon, with Fatima Monterona serving as Production Manager and Don Joseph Buduso as Assistant Production Manager. Together with the entire production team, they have helped shape PATLANG into a collaborative artistic experience that celebrates both performance and community.
