The Department of Education (DepEd) has introduced a nationwide framework to strengthen workplace immersion for senior high school students as part of efforts to address uneven program quality, expand industry linkages, and ensure students gain practical skills that match their chosen academic tracks.

The initiative, presented at a convention in Olongapo City, sets uniform standards while opening 50,000 industry placements aligned with student specialization tracks.

DepEd Assistant Secretary Janir T. Datukan underscored the importance of the reforms in ensuring immersion becomes a meaningful workplace experience.

“Every student deserves a fair shot. This dashboard will show exactly where opportunities exist—and where gaps remain. No more hidden placements. No more empty promises,” Datukan said.

Past studies and reports revealed that students were often assigned to workplaces unrelated to their chosen strands, creating skill mismatches and limiting their readiness for employment after graduation.

Datukan said that the program is designed to move immersion beyond paperwork and signatures toward genuine learning with mentors in real workplaces.

“For too long, work immersion meant paperwork and sign‑offs. Now it means real learning, in real workplaces, with real mentors. We are not just counting hours—we are building careers,” he said.

Under the department’s policy guidelines, students are expected to spend 30 hours each week outside their schools to gain practical skills.

A digital dashboard has also been launched to provide administrators with real‑time analytics on student immersion performance.

The platform monitors industry partnerships, placement data, and the alignment of training with curriculum standards.
