Alex Eala storms into Guadalajara 125 Open final with dominant semifinal win

Alex Eala is one win away from her first WTA title after powering past American Kayla Day, 6-2, 6-3, in the semifinals of the Guadalajara 125 Open, September 6.

The Filipina tennis star, ranked No. 75 in the world, showcased her lethal baseline game and strategic shot-making, rallying from an 0-2 deficit in the first set to win six consecutive games. 

Her drives from the backcourt were precise, well-timed, and consistently forced Day into defensive positions.

Eala opened the second set strongly, taking the first two games, before Day briefly leveled the score. But the Filipina regained control, claiming three of the next five games to close out the match. 

She converted 83% of her break points (5 of 6) while Day managed only 40% (2 of 5), underscoring Eala’s composure in critical moments.

In the final, Eala is set to meet Hungary’s Panna Udvardy, ranked No. 134, who booked her spot by overcoming Russia’s Maria Kozyreva 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals.

A victory would mark Eala’s second WTA final appearance, her first coming at the Eastbourne Open last June, and her first WTA title.
