To promote financial literacy in schools, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Education (DepEd), and BDO Foundation have launched free, ready-to-use teaching and learning materials for Filipino teachers and students.
The initiative was formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed by BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, and BDO Foundation President Mario Deriquito.
The partnership aligns with the BSP’s National Strategy for Financial Inclusion and DepEd’s push for expanded financial education.
Over 300 lesson exemplars and 10 financial education videos are now accessible via the DepEd Learning Portal.
These materials are designed for use in classroom instruction and co-curricular activities.
Topics covered include saving, budgeting, financial planning, and recognizing financial scams.
BDO Foundation President Mario Deriquito emphasized the vital role of educators in shaping responsible financial behavior among youth.
“Teachers are our strongest allies in building a financially responsible generation,” Deriquito said.
“We created these tools to make it easier for them to teach money skills in the classroom without the need to develop materials from scratch,” he added.
The three institutions expect the collaboration to enhance financial literacy implementation nationwide.
