Choco Mucho, Cignal open All-Filipino Conference with sweeps

Choco Mucho and Cignal Super Spikers wasted no time asserting themselves, both rolling to straight-set victories to open their respective campaigns in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, Jan 31.

The Flying Titans leaned on the long-awaited return of Sisi Rondina and the debut of Eya Laure to dispatch Akari, 25–17, 25–23, 25–20.

Rondina and Laure immediately made their presence felt for Choco Mucho, combining for 27 points as the Titans set the tone early.

Rondina finished with 16 points, while Laure chipped in 11 in her first official outing for the club.

Choco Mucho cruised through the opening set before facing resistance in the second, where Akari surged ahead, 17–11, behind Mars Alba’s crisp playmaking that repeatedly found the middle.

The Titans slowly chipped away at the deficit, closing in at 19-22 before Rondina sparked the rally with back-to-back sharp hits from the left.

Lorraine Pecana’s block tied the frame at 22-all, followed by a crucial stuff from Kat Tolentino on Grethcel Soltones’ down-the-line attempt to push Choco Mucho ahead.

Rondina capped the comeback with a crosscourt hit and a service ace to seal the set. The Titans regained full control in the third to complete the sweep.

For Akari, Fifi Sharma led the way with 10 points on seven attacks, two aces and one block. Ced Domingo added nine points, while Soltones, Ivy Lacsina and Eli Soyud scored six apiece in the loss.

Cignal overwhelms Galeries Tower

Cignal’s continuity during the offseason showed as they dismantled the retooled Galeries Tower, 25–17, 25–14, 25–11, in their conference opener.


Tin Tiamzon delivered a game-high 18 points, highlighted by a punishing performance from the service line that included six aces, to go along with 10 attacks and two kill blocks.

Vanie Gandler, fresh from national team duty in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, added 14 points built on 12 kills and two aces.

Erika Santos finished with 13 points, while Jackie Acuña added six for the Super Spikers.

Cignal maintained control throughout, pulling away early in the third set.

Cignal will next face Choco Mucho on Feb. 5 at the FilOil Centre.

Looking to clinch their first win, ZUS Coffee will lock horns with Galeries and Akari on Feb. 7 and Feb. 12, respectively.
