Cignal, PLDT roll to early PVL All-Filipino wins

It’s a new different conference but the same winning ways for the Cignal Super Spikers and PLDT High Speed Hitters, both clinching superb victories against Choco Mucho Flying Titans and Creamline Cool Smashers, respectively, during the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference elimination round at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, Feb. 5.

Fueled by their push for a maiden title, Cignal handed the gritty Eya Laure- and Sisi Rondina-led Choco Mucho Flying Titans their first loss in the conference, 25–20, 16–25, 25–19, 25–18 victory.

Erika Santos proved to be the core for Cignal’s offense, scoring 18 points on 14 attacks, while reliable Vanie Gandler backstopped with a 16-marker showing.

After dropping the second set, Cignal regrouped behind its net defense, with Rose Aquino sparking a key third-set surge that wrested control from the Flying Titans.

Jewel Encarnacion sealed the four-set win with a timely finish in the fourth.

Rondina paced Choco Mucho with 20 points while Lorraine Pecaña and Laure combined for 23 markers, but the Flying Titans slipped to a 1–1.

Cignal will return to action on Feb. 10, now up against Farm Fresh Foxies at the Big Dome. Choco Mucho, meanwhile, looks to bounce back as it relives a crowd-favorite clash against sister team Creamline Cool Smashers on the same day.

PLDT sweeps Creamline

PLDT, meanwhile, opened its title bid with a statement sweep of Creamline, 25–22, 25–17, 25–23, behind a dominant all-around performance from Savi Davison.

The Filipino-Canadian spiker poured in 25 points, highlighted by a strong opening-set run, and backed it up with 11 digs and 10 excellent receptions as the High Speed Hitters overpowered the 10-time champions.

PLDT maintained control throughout the match, pulling away late in the third set before Jovi Prado stuffed the final point at the net.

Switching from the sandbeach to taraflex surface, Pons showed no signs of rust in providing steady support for Creamline after her 13-point showing with 11 digs and 10 receptions.

Looking ahead to a tougher battle, PLDT now set its eyes on the red-hot Capital1 Solar Spikers, anchored by rookie standout Bella Belen, on Feb. 12 at the same venue.
