CPC honors top collegiate athletes, coaches at 2026 Awards Night

After a three-year hiatus, the Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) successfully staged their annual CPC Awards Night presented by Strong Group Athletics (SGA) to honor the country’s top collegiate athletes and coaches at the Discovery Suites Manila, Pasig, June 29.

The event brought together the brightest collegiate standouts from both the UAAP and NCAA celebrating excellence across various sports throughout their respective seasons.

DLSU ace Mike Phillips received the Men’s Basketball Player of the Year after helping the Green Archers reclaim the UAAP title, while UST’s Kent Pastrana likewise earned the Women’s Basketball Player of the Year following a stellar UAAP Season 88 Finals run.

Phillips also headlined the Men’s Basketball Mythical Five, with UAAP reigning MVP Janrey Pasaol, San Beda standout Janti Miller, Letran guard Jonathan Manalili, and UST center Collins Akowe.

Pastrana, alongside fellow Growling Tigress Brig Santos, ADMU’s Kacey Dela Rosa, NU’s Ann Pingol and Tin Cayabyab composed the Women’s Basketball Mythical Five.

Dela Rosa received a Special Citation Award after an exceptional year in which she helped the Philippines capture the 2025 SEA Games gold, the FIBA 3×3 Asia cup silver, and an outstanding 2026 FIBA 3×3 World Cup run.

Standing at the top of the taraflex was NU’s Leo Ordiales, DLSU’s Angel Canino, Letran’s Lara Mae Silva, and Benilde’s Reymark Betco as they are recognized as the Volleyball Players of the Year.

Football Players of the Year went to FEU’s Regine Rebosura, UP’s Ramil Bation, and San Beda’s Pellejo.

Outstanding coaches were also recognized, as DLSU’s Ramil de Jesus, NU’s Dante Alinsunurin, Letran’s Mayeth Carolino, and Benilde’s Arnold Laniog are recognized as the UAAP and NCAA Volleyball Coaches of the Year.

Leading their respective squads to success, Green Archers’ Topex Robinson, Growling Tigers’ Haydee Ong, and Red Lions’ Yuri Escueta received the Basketball Coaches of the Year.
