A Facebook post claims to show a rally of supporters for Vice President Sara Duterte at Liwasang Bayan (EDSA Shrine).
The post features a video of large crowds wearing sports attire, many in green shirts, presented as though it were political mobilization in the Philippines.
The video is not from the Philippines. It actually shows Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai during the Dubai Run held on November 24, 2024, as part of the annual Dubai Fitness Challenge. The event drew 278,000 participants in sportswear, many of them in green, creating visuals that were misrepresented as a Philippine political rally.
The clip was filmed in Dubai, not Manila.
The event is the Dubai Run, described as the “world’s largest free fun run,” covered by international and regional media outlets.
The green shirts visible in the video are part of the attire worn by thousands of runners, not political supporters.
No credible Philippine news agency reported any mass gathering of Duterte supporters at Liwasang Bayan on the date in question.
The video was deliberately miscaptioned to mislead viewers into believing it depicted a Philippine political event. It actually documents a sports run in Dubai, not a rally for Vice President Sara Duterte.
