Marking the event’s fourth-straight year, which commenced after its four-year hiatus, the University of the Philippines (UP) Office for Athletics and Sports Development, along with its partners, spearheaded the “The Great UP Run 2026” that drew about 9,000 runners, held at the UP Diliman Grounds, Jan. 25.

In partnership with RUNRIO, the Great UP Run is an event inclusive for runners of all levels, promoting hopefuls to measure their skills with easier distances and marathoners into longer categories while navigating UP’s captivating campus scenery.

Runners took part in 3K, 5K, and 10K race categories.

The event opened its gates to UP Varsity athletes, students, faculty, alumni, and supporters of the UP community, amplifying the cause of the university’s varsity sports programs, anchored by RUNRIO’s P1 million donation.

Participants also received race singlets, merch shirts, and finisher’s medals as a token for their efforts.

Angel’s Burger served as the race’s title sponsor, along with Cristalino Spring as the official hydration partner and Pocari Sweat as their official electrolyte drink.

Following a progressive outcome, the run is set to be followed by a second leg on August 23, which will also feature a 16K route for seasoned runners.
