Honor of Kings is introducing its first Filipino hero as part of the game’s global release, with Lapu-Lapu set to become available through a free in-game event starting this Friday, Nov. 21.
Lapu-Lapu, the famed Filipino hero, enters King’s Canyon with his Kampilan and Kalasag as a tank built to dominate teamfights through strong crowd control, high mobility, and solid survivability.
His inclusion marks a major step for the MOBA in showcasing global cultures, bringing a 15th-century Philippine hero onto the battlefield.
According to Benji Dalmacio, Senior Business Development Manager of Level Infinite Philippines, Lapu-Lapu represents their ongoing effort to learn from and celebrate local cultures within Honor of Kings.
Starting Nov. 21, HoK will launch a special event where players can earn Lapu-Lapu Coins by logging in, playing matches, and using new heroes, then exchange them for the newly released Lapu-Lapu.
HoK, a leading MOBA in the Philippines, counts 200 million registered users and over 100 million daily players worldwide, with Filipino gamers making a strong mark in esports.
