Marcos, Duterte report increasing net worths while inflation pressures households

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte reported increased net worths in their latest Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), covering 2022 to 2024.

Their financial statements detailing increased wealth were submitted during a period when rising costs and inflation continued to affect many Filipino households.

During the same period of both the president and the vice president’s SALNs, the Philippines recorded the fastest pace of inflation in four months at 2.9 percent.

This rate rose from the 2.5 percent in the previous quarter and stayed within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ forecast range of 2.3 to 3.1 percent.

The president declared a net worth of P389.357 million as of December 31, 2024.

His net worth rose by P60.128 million from the P329.229 million he declared when he took office.

The appraised value of his assets increased from P908 million in 2022 to P960.7 million during the same year, then to P1.157 billion in 2023, and P1.375 billion in 2024.

The vice president also recorded steady gains in her net worth over her first two years in office.

Her net worth rose from P71,058,841 in June 2022 to P88,512,370.22 by the end of 2024.

Duterte’s real property holdings rose to P66,808,891 in 2024, following the acquisition of two parcels of land worth P12 million.

She declared liabilities of P9,950,000 in 2024, including the P8 million loan she took the same year.

Her earlier personal loan gradually went down from P3,750,000 in 2022 to P1,950,000 in 2024.

Duterte’s net worth increased by P17.45 million over the period covered by her SALN.
