MISLEADING: PBBM asserts unique record of building a 4-storey building in 30 years

Elijah Costes

Allegations have emerged accusing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of asserting his unique record of being the only president of the country to have ever built a 4-storey building in the span of 8 months in 30 years.

CLAIM:

The post quoted the President as saying he is the only president in 30 years to successfully build a 4-storey building in 8 months, implying an insult to former leaders.

“30 years na ang nakalipas, pero tanging ako lang ang nakapagpatayo ng 4-storey classroom in just 8 months, galing talaga!,” Marcos allegedly said.

RATING: MISLEADING

CONCLUSION:

The President has not made any insulting remarks towards former leaders. In contrast, he stated that the project with SM Corporation and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) done in 8 months is a result of proper usage of government funding.

“Kapag ang pera ng gobyerno ay ginagamit sa tama, ito yung kaya nating gawin. Kaya nating magtayo ng 4-storey [building], 60 classrooms in 8 months time…”

THE FACTS:

  • The statement has been fabricated and was used to mislead readers
  • The recently awarded Dao Building and Henry Sy Sr. Hall at the San Francisco High School in Quezon City are buildings made to replace the building that was burned down in June 2025; a project done together with SM Corporation and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)
  • On June 10, 2026, President Marcos, together with Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, inspected the new building to be formally used by the school in the future.
  • On that day, President Marcos spoke in an interview emphasizing the efforts of the government for the project, “Kapag ang pera ng gobyerno ay ginagamit sa tama, ito yung kaya nating gawin. Kaya nating magtayo ng 4-storey [building], 60 classrooms in 8 months…”
  • No verified information or credible source of a public statement from President Marcos stating that he has insulted former leaders of the country. Rather, the quote seems to have been fabricated and has been used to mislead netizens.

THE BOTTOMLINE:

Contrary to allegations that the President has publicly demeaned former leaders of the country, his statement has been altered and was only limited to commending efforts of institutions on proper handling of funding. There has been no credible source that proves that the President had an additional remark to his statement.
