The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is on high alert for the expected surge of travelers, while the Philippine National Police (PNP) ensures strict security measures ahead of this year’s Undas.

“So far, based on our observations while going around, the situation at bus terminals and cemeteries is generally manageable,” NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said after inspecting bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City, on Oct. 31.

Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. also conducted a late-night bus terminal inspection in Cubao, Quezon City, on Oct. 28.

“Chine-check natin yung preparation natin… Kailangan secure sila at ang mga tao sa byahe,” Nartatez explained.

“We haven’t seen any threats to security, but the security forces are continuously monitoring,” the chief added, assuring that Undas will be safe.

As more passengers arrive at bus terminals, the NCRPO has been placed on heightened alert until November 3.

“We are on full alert effective Oct. 28 until November 3, 2025. All our police officers should be accounted for and report for duty, except those with medical conditions, and they should be ready to be deployed at any time,” the director reported.

Nartatez also reported that all of the police resources, logistics, and finances will be deployed on the security operations to keep Undas safe.

“We are utilizing our resources — not only our logistics but also our personnel, who are always on standby and ready to be mobilized,” he explained.

Nartatez also ordered the Anti-Cybercrime Group and police units to intensify their operation and flag fake advisories, phishing messages, or online scams pretending to offer travel assistance or cemetery services.

“Police cyber units will operate in tandem with regional monitoring hubs to watch over social-media chatter and digital incident reports that could indicate emerging threats or misinformation,” the chief said in a statement.

Aberin highlighted that there were no monitored threats to the region over the weekend, and officers will not be deployed as marshals to oversee security on buses during the exodus.

“There is no reason for us to do that… When there really is a need for us to do that, we will do it,” he further explained.

To date, more than 42,000 police officers have been deployed nationwide for Undas, with over 2,000 stationed at more than 800 bus terminals nationwide.
