North American powerhouse NRG dashed Fnatic’s spirited comeback attempt to seize the 2025 VALORANT Champions title, outlasting the European squad in a thrilling 3-2 finish at the Grand Finals in Paris, Oct. 5.

After racing to a commanding two-map lead, NRG appeared poised for a sweep before Fnatic clawed back to force a decider. But NRG regrouped in time, dismantling Fnatic on Sunset, 13-5, to capture their first-ever world championship and cap a flawless upper-bracket run.

Fnatic’s rally began on Abyss, where they overturned an 11-1 deficit to snatch a 15-13 win in overtime.

Behind Kaajak’s late-round heroics, the European squad caught NRG off guard in the second half and turned defense into offense to stay alive.

They carried that surge into Ascent, dominating the first half 8-4 and withstanding NRG’s late push to prevail 13-8, forcing a decisive fifth map.

However, their comeback hopes unraveled in the finale.

NRG reestablished control early on Sunset, sprinting to a 9-3 first-half advantage and shutting down every counterattack in the closing rounds.

With momentum fully back on their side, they sealed the map 13-5 and the series 3-2 to lift the Champions trophy.

Ethan, playing Breach, bannered NRG’s Map 5 triumph with a 355 ACS, 23/12/9 KDA, and +11 differential,  punctuating his stellar showing with a round 16 ace on defense.

Brawk overall spearheaded NRG’s charge, earning tournament MVP honors after recording an 84/61/40 stat line and a +23 differential.

The victory marked NRG’s maiden world title and cemented their rise as a dominant force in the VALORANT scene.

Fnatic, still in search of their elusive first Champions crown, settled for second place and US $400,000, while NRG walked away with US $1,000,000 and the right to call themselves world champions.
