Olympian Levi Ruivivar eyed for Asian Games roster

Olympian Levi Jung-Ruivivar is being considered for a spot on the Philippine national team for the 20th Asian Games, a Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) official said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN at the federation’s gym in Intramuros, Manila, June 3.

This was revealed by GAP President Cynthia Carrion-Norton when asked about the Filipino American gymnast. 

“I feel like she will strengthen the team. You know, she’s been training hard. She has the passion now. I can feel that she really wants [it],” Carrion told ABS-CBN.

“We need a good team for [the] Asian Games. So I feel like maybe we should consider her (Levi). I have to convince the board to consider her as our fourth, fifth team member. Of course, I’ll also ask my team because they have to work together well.”

Haylee Garcia, Chiara Andrew, Kylee Kvamme and Lauren Supnet will also be included for the women’s artistic gymnastics roster.

However, Aleah Finnegan and Emma Malabuyo are unlikely to compete on the continental podium as they continue to recover from injuries.

The 20-year-old Ruivivar most recently represented the Philippines at the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside Finnegan, Emma Malabuyo, and two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo.

The 20th Asian Games are scheduled for Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan.
