
More than 2,000 Philippine Red Cross (PRC) volunteers nationwide continue to assist travelers and cemetery-goers, to ensure safety during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.
PRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang said on Oct. 29 that the organization has mobilized 2,227 volunteers nationwide, with operations running until Nov. 2.
For its Undas 2025 operations, the humanitarian organization has deployed first aiders and 92 local chapters to cover 314 areas across the country.
“Ganoon po kadami yung ating mga lugar na kung saan may first aid stations at may ambulance service stations po tayo, para matiyak ang kaligtasan ng lahat itong darating na Undas,” Pang said in an interview with Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon on Oct. 29, emphasizing their wide coverage and readiness.
She noted that volunteers have been stationed in key areas across the country, including airports, highways, cemeteries, barangay halls, seaports, gas stations, train and bus terminals, and places near local chapters.
“So this year po, meron po tayong iseset up na 295 na first aid stations, 66 ambulance units na idedeploy natin,” Pang added, explaining that out of 190 ambulances owned by the organization, 66 have been deployed while the rest remain on standby in offices and chapters nationwide.
For areas inaccessible to vehicles, the PRC has also assigned 100 foot patrol units.
“We also have 59 mobile units na maidedeploy po natin and 155 welfare desks,” the secretary general stressed.
Pang added that the Red Cross is present in over 200 cemeteries, including major ones, and in 25 chapters located near cemeteries or popular tourist spots, as some people also go on vacations during Undas.
As of 6 p.m. on Oct. 31, the organization had already assisted more than 1,000 individuals in its first aid stations nationwide.
Meanwhile, 27 people have received psychological support through the Welfare Help Desks.
