Quezon City set to stage Palarong Pambansa 2027 after 6 decades

For the first time after a 61-year hosting drought, Quezon City will once again return as the home for aspiring athletes in the Palarong Pambansa 2027, as Undersecretary Malcolm Garma announced today, May 28.

In a press conference with the national and local media, the Secretary-General officially revealed that Quezon City will assume hosting duties for the 67th edition, marking its return since 1966.

City’s officials are expected to attend the closing ceremony of the current games, where the handover of the hosting duties will take place.

“I think the delegation from the Quezon City government will be coming over for the turnover of the Palarong Pambansa banner during the closing ceremony,” Garma said.

This also marks the return of the national stint in the NCR, after it was hosted by Marikina City in 2023.

Long before the games were dubbed Palaro, Quezon City previously hosted the games when they were named the Bureau of Public Schools-Interscholastic Athletics Association Games (BPISAA) within a single decade: 1960, 1964, and 1966.
