Yearning for what I can’t have—friendship, or whatever remains of it.

We say we’ll meet soon, but you never call. You refuse to message first, and our conversations have dwindled to almost nothing. It feels as if what we shared meant nothing to you. Was I really that easy to let go of?

And yet, I can’t seem to let go.

I can’t release you, despite the pain you’ve caused me, despite your insistence that romance isn’t in the cards for us, despite your desire for our relationship to remain strictly platonic. I choose to hold on.

I yearn for you, for the day you might return and reconsider. I cling to the hope that maybe, just maybe, if I wait long enough, you’ll change your mind. I find myself making a fool of myself, waiting for something that feels like nothingness, yet I can’t help but dream that one day you’ll take me in and finally say you’re ready too.

Until then, I remain here, caught in this bittersweet limbo, yearning for a connection that feels just out of reach.
