Aurora Gaming PH storms past Alter Ego after Game 4 comeback, books M7 upper bracket finals clash vs. SRG

Aurora Gaming PH completed a resilient comeback to send Indonesia’s Alter Ego in the lower bracket, 3–1, to secure a spot in the upper bracket finals against Selangor Red Giants (SRG), during the upper bracket semifinals of the M7 Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, Jan. 21.

The Filipinos sealed the series in Game 4 despite losing all their turrets, leaning on disciplined base defense before turning the tide with a decisive Lord take and teamfight at the 17-minute mark to close out the match.

Edward “Edward” Dapadap set the tone early in the series, earning MVP honors in Game 1 after posting a 6-2-10 KDA on Lapu-Lapu.

Aurora opened the series aggressively in Game 1, controlling the early objectives before regaining momentum at the second Lord fight through strong flanks from Jan “Domengkite” Delmundo’s Freya and Edward’s Lapu-Lapu to secure the opening win.

Alter Ego responded in Game 2 by dictating the tempo early, building a massive gold lead behind pressure from Muhammad “Yazukee” Wahyudi and Alexander “alekk” Owen before Arifudin “Arfy” Dingarai closed the round with a Granger maniac to even the series.

Aurora reclaimed control in Game 3 by dominating teamfights with a sturdy frontline, dismantling Alter Ego’s map presence and sealing the win after a full team wipe at the 16-minute mark.

In the deciding Game 4, Alter Ego’s teamfight-heavy composition initially paid dividends, with Arfy surging to a 5-0-5 start as Aurora were forced to turtle inside their base.

Aurora held firm under pressure, however, and capitalized on a single opening to secure the Lord, wipe Alter Ego in a crucial clash, and march down the mid lane for the series-clinching push.

With the win, Aurora Gaming PH  advanced to face SRG in the upper bracket finals on Jan. 22, while Alter Ego will meet the winner of Team Spirit and Yangon Galacticos on Jan. 23.

A highly anticipated showdown between ONIC and Team Liquid PH on Jan. 22 will determine Aurora Gaming’s opponent in the next round of the M7 Championships.
