The Palaro serves not only as a platform for sporting events but also as a gateway to promote regional tourism.

After two years of preparations as first-time Palarong Pambansa hosts, Agusan and Surigao del Sur will provide free heritage trips in 13 tourism gems for the thousands of participating athletes and delegates in the biennial national games set to start on May 24.

In a Facebook post by the Agusan del Sur – Palarong Pambansa 2026 page, the sponsored travels would also include tourist sites in Surigao del Sur that would start from May 17 to 22 and May 27 to June 1.

Featured visitor attractions include Tugonan Falls, Bega Falls and Ecotourism Park, Jordan Falls, Puting Buhangin Cave, Sugwak Tu Agusan: Provincial Museum, Soil and Biogeochemistry Research Laboratory, Toog Centennial Tree, Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, Lerio Chocolate Cafe, VPO Farms and Eco Reserve, USAD Cut Flower Demo Farm, Bretania Group of Islands, and Enchanted River.

“These [efforts] remind our young athletes that every competition is also an opportunity to discover new places, cultures, and stories while building friendships and discipline through sports,” Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” M. Angara acknowledged.

Along with the free sightseeing trips, Agusan also launched its ‘Libreng Sakay’ program from May 24 to 31, scattering officially marked e-buses and tricycles across 36 playing venues, including San Francisco, Bayugan, Talocogon, Esperanza, and Prosperidad.
