NCR trounces Eastern Visayas for back-to-back HS girls’ gold; R10 sparks last-minute surge to shock R11 for bronze

NCR unfurled their all-around brilliance as their championship experience proved vital, clobbering the Golden Stingers via a 78-39 blowout in the make-or-break finals clash.

Engaging in a nip-and-tuck affair, both crews traded blows throughout the first half as neither team could establish a commanding advantage yet, with the score notched at 18–19 at halftime.

The Big City cagers then seized control at the right time, blasting ahead with a 13–0 run to swell up the lead to 31–19, stunning Eastern Visayas before they could regroup.

Turning it up a notch, NCR went full throttle to overwhelm their opposition in the third quarter as their balanced offensive output and superior rebounding paved the way to a 50–26 avalanche.

Flexing their championship form, the Metro Stars completely crushed the Golden Stingers’ chances of staging a spectacular turnaround as they overpowered Eastern Visayas, ending the demolition at a staggering 78–39 drubbing.

NorMin’s clutch comeback vs Davao

Just as Northern Mindanao was about to fall into the deep depths of defeat, Region X mustered up every ounce of strength left to engineer a decisive 11–0 explosion in the payoff to nip Davao Region through a 60–57 edge in the battle-for-third bout. 

Down 49–57 during the final stages of the match, R10 shifted their gears to lock down Region XI, rendering them unable to score.

Likewise, they took advantage of their slump and rapidly established an 11–0 spree built off a balanced offensive output to stun Davao.

The Eagles went the extra mile midway through the third canto and snatched the upper hand from Northern Mindanao, who held the advantage during the first half.

NCR now cements their spot as a powerhouse squad in the secondary girls’ basketball landscape, as Eastern Visayas settled for silver, while Northern Mindanao completes the podium with a bronze finish.
