NU rallies past FEU in reverse sweep; Adamson secures 4-set win vs UE

The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs completed a stirring reverse sweep of Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamarraws, while the Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons rebounded from a third-set stumble to secure a four-set win in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball at the Mall of Asia Arena, Feb. 21.

The Lady Bulldogs overcame a two-set deficit to defeat the Lady Tamaraws, 17–25, 16–25, 25–19, 25–21, 15–12, and remain unbeaten at 3–0.

NU found itself trailing 0–2 and down 11–7 in the third set before igniting a momentum shift that changed the match.

Kaye Bombita sparked a 4–0 run that pulled the Lady Bulldogs even at 11-all, erasing FEU’s cushion and injecting life into NU’s side. 

Although FEU briefly regained the lead at 12–11, NU responded with another scoring surge to take the third set.

The fourth set featured extended rallies and tense exchanges, but the Lady Bulldogs executed better down the stretch to force a deciding fifth set.

Trailing 11–7 in the final frame, NU unleashed a decisive 8–2 run to seize control, capitalizing on FEU’s errors and asserting its championship pedigree to complete the reverse sweep.

Setter Lams Lamina orchestrated the offense with 19 excellent sets, while Arah Panique powered the rally with 27 points to seal the victory.

Adamson’s second win in S88 

Meanwhile, Adamson dispatched  University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors, 25–15, 25–18, 21–25, 25–18.

The Lady Falcons appeared in control after claiming the first two sets before UE mounted resistance in the third.

The Lady Warriors grabbed a 9–5 edge and later broke an 18-all deadlock to extend the match with a 25–21 win in the third set.

Adamson regrouped in the fourth set, responding with a decisive run to regain control and close out the match in four sets.

Frances Mordi and Shaina Nitura led the Lady Falcons with 19 points each.

The Lady Falcons will face the Lady Tamaraws at the Araneta Coliseum on March 1.
