PBBM brings aid, inspects quake-hit facilities in Sarangani

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Sarangani on Monday to personally check on families affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao and oversee the government’s ongoing relief efforts.

During his visit to an evacuation center in Glan, Marcos met with displaced residents and witnessed the distribution of assistance to affected families. 

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided family food packs and hot meals through its mobile kitchen, while the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) distributed 350 ChariTimba units.

The President also led the release of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), with 453 beneficiaries receiving ₱5,000 each.

As part of the government’s support for earthquake-hit communities, Marcos turned over ₱20 million of Socio-Civic Project Fund (SCPF) assistance and a Starlink unit to the municipality of Glan to strengthen communication and speed up relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts.

Marcos also visited Sarangani Provincial Hospital in Alabel to check on patients and inspect facilities damaged by the earthquake.

During the visit, he led the turnover of two Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) for the provincial government of Sarangani to help improve healthcare delivery and emergency services.

The Office of the President likewise provided one Starlink unit each to Sarangani Provincial Hospital and the Provincial Government of Sarangani to ensure uninterrupted communication as recovery efforts continue.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8 caused damage to several structures across affected areas, prompting evacuation and the mobilization of government agencies to provide immediate assistance to residents.

The President assured affected communities that the national government would continue extending support as rehabilitation efforts move forward in the quake-hit areas.
