PH unified nationwide 911 emergency hotline to go live on Sept. 11

Starting September 11, people across the Philippines will only need to dial 911 during emergencies as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) rolls out the unified 911 system nationwide.

The new setup will replace over 30 separate emergency hotlines and channel all calls for police, fire, medical, and disaster assistance through one network.

“Unified 911 should not just be a hotline. It is a lifeline. Every second matters, every call matters, every life matters. This is (the) government fulfilling its promise that help will always be within reach.” DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.

The unified system will connect the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and local government units into one consolidated hotline.

According to the DILG, the service will be free, accessible 24/7, and able to accommodate multiple local languages, including Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Waray, and Tausug.

“By cutting delays and uniting responders, officials said, the hotline is a tangible step toward giving families the confidence that they are safer in their homes, on the streets, and in every barangay,” the agency added in its press release.

Authorities are aiming for a five-minute response time, with operators trained to reassure callers while dispatching help.

Call operators will also reassure people in crisis with a uniform response: “Help is on the way.”

The DILG also noted that the program is not only a technological advancement, but it also reflects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s belief that community safety forms the foundation of national strength.

“Unified 911 is the nation’s single number and the government’s single promise that when danger strikes, help will come,” the agency added.

The unified emergency hotline was partially rolled out in July 2025, when it was first made available in the Ilocos Region, National Capital Region (NCR), Central Visayas, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
