PLDT connects closer to bronze.
The High Speed Hitters successfully held off the Farm Fresh Foxies in a five-set thriller, 22–25, 25–21, 27–25, 26–28, 15–11, to take a 1–0 advantage in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Battle for Bronze at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, April 21.
Both teams went head-on throughout the entire match, taking turns on lead changes before PLDT eventually edged Farm Fresh.
Just as when the Foxies were getting comfortable in their early lead in the opening set, the High Speed Hitters retaliated with full force, taking back-to-back sets.
In the fourth set, Farm Fresh went rage mode, stopping PLDT from a 26-all deadlock and scored two consecutive points to take the game to a decider.
Even so, the Foxies’ inconsistency remained prevalent in the final set, failing to capitalize on momentums throughout.
PLDT on the other hand took over the set with confident plays, using Farm Fresh’s turnovers as advantage to seal the victory.
Savi Davison played a big part in their victory, scoring four out of the last six points in their 6–1 run in the end.
Davison overall contributed 33 points for the team’s win, while Kianna Dy and Mika Reyes added 16 and 13, respectively.
Meanwhile, Trisha Tubu powered the Foxies with 30 points, while teammate Ces Molina chipped in 15 more to the effort.
The two teams will fire-up the court again on April 23 at the same venue.
